Office Manager, Grade-A Tree Care
Kim Curtis joined Grade-A Tree Care in May 2023. Before that she spent more than 20 years as president of the Grandview Chamber of Commerce. If you have run a shop, a restaurant, or a church in Grandview, there is a decent chance you already know her voice.
That is why she sits at the phone. Tree companies lose jobs in the first three minutes — not because the climber is bad, but because nobody called back, nobody knew the address, and nobody asked whether the tree was on a power line. Kim does that part.
“People do not call us to chat. They call because something in the yard looks wrong, or because it is already on the roof. My job is to get a real person there without making them repeat the story four times.”

Kim picks up during shop hours, 7:30 to 5:30 most weekdays, 7:30 to 5 on Friday. She will ask the boring questions that save a wasted trip: city, nearest cross street, whether the tree is in a backyard with a six-foot gate, whether it is touching a service drop, whether this is a same-day storm call or a next-week estimate.
If it is after hours and a tree is on a house, the emergency line still reaches a person. Kim’s weekday work is making sure that call already has a crew map, a gate code if we have one, and a note about dogs.

Grandview, on purpose
The shop is at 3400 Robinson Pike Road. Kim still sits on the boards of the Grandview Assistance Program, the Grandview Education Foundation, and Heartland Business Capital. She did not drop civic work when she left the Chamber desk. She just changed which building she drives to in the morning.
Customers who have worked with her tend to mention the same thing: she is warm, and she does not rush the intake. That matters when someone is calling about a tree they planted when their kids were little.
When the office closes
Kim’s off hours go to family, especially her two grandchildren. She reads. She decorates. She thrifts. If that sounds like a Grandview Saturday, it is.
